Gender Neutral Nursery

After posting a few pics on Instagram of the nursery we put together for the new babe, I got tons of people asking details... where I got this, what color is that etc. So I thought I'd put together a blog post for you all.

Because we weren't finding out the gender of baby #2, we wanted to make sure the nursery was gender neutral... minus the traditional greens and yellows.

We wanted a simple, modern, rustic design that included some cute little animals to make it a bit more kid friendly.

My husband made the honeycomb shelves from some old wood we had laying around in the garage. Once they were done, I stained them with some wood stain I picked up from Lowes.

The little golden zebra and giraffe figurines I picked up from a Michaels craft store and spray painted them gold.

I found a cute Etsy shop HERE that sold digital animal images that you could print yourself. My printer was down and I wanted some larger prints so I went to Staples and they printed them all for around $20 total.

We brought Allie's old changing table up from downstairs. It was a super ugly dark brown color. We found this gorgeous green color from Valspar while at Lowe's (5004-4C Redstone Ponderosa Pine). Although, I like buying my paint from Sherwin Williams so we went there and they said they could color match it, whoop whoop!

We took the ugly round nobs off the drawers and attached some long, round pulls that were originally silver and we spray painted gold.

Before we turned this room into the baby's room, it was our spare bedroom and was a seriously awful cream color. So we painted it this super airy Sherwin Williams color (SW7056 Reserved White). I'm absolutely in LOVE with this color. We did do one strip of chalkboard paint to have a little fun and let Allie draw the babe some pictures.

Almost everything else we got from Wayfair. I freaking LOVE this store, I swear I could spend hours on their site just browsing at all their goodness. Once I discovered they had nursery items like cribs and what not, I was in heaven.

We got this gorgeous crib, I knew I wanted a white crib and absolutely fell in love with THIS one. The light fixture in this room was awful, so we switched it out with THIS brass colored pendant, we always get so many compliment on it.  I knew I wanted some greenery in there to help lighten up the room and feel a little more cozy, I fell in love with THIS fiddle leaf tree. We needed a rug to help bring the room together, but I wanted something that popped with color, so I instantly fell in love with THIS one.

I dragged out Allie's old glider chair to refurbish. It was an ugly dark brown color with a super dirty cream cushions. So we sanded and painted it white. I found fabric that fit the nursery perfect (white with blue aztec print on it) at JoAnns, pulled out my sewing machine and reupholstered it. P.S. I had NEVER reupholstered anything before and had no idea what I was doing, but it turned out to be super simple.

So that's it. I'm absolutely in LOVE with how everything turned out. It's become my favorite room in the house by far!
